Finding Your Soul Purpose
By connecting with your deepest part yourself, the part having the answers to all questions, your soul purpose in life becomes much clearer. Your soul purpose is why you are here on earth. What you are seeking or looking for is possibly associated with your soul purpose. Your soul purpose can be the driving factor in your life.
As you discover your soul purpose in life, you get clarity of vision. Also, you become confident about the work you are destined to do in this world. You live the life you are meant to live.
We have the same cosmic wisdom, and the guiding voice within that keeps us from going astray. Knowing your soul purpose makes you content with life. It will make you feel like you are heading in the right direction. Everything starts to feel right at this juncture.
What are You Looking for?
You should be looking for clues to find your soul and connect with it. This is the place where you harbor your deepest wisdom. We all have it, but at times, we fail to hear it as it speaks. This is because we try to understand or hear it through our minds.
The secret to understanding your soul’s language is the universe itself. It is energy. So, to find your soul purpose, this is what you have to do.
- Follow the Energy Trail
The voice of your soil is usually linked to positive energy. So, start noticing things that bring positive joy to your life. If you are feeling utterly miserable in your life, look for that thing that brings you joy.
It might be the calm you feel when you indulge yourself in art or the sheer joy you feel walking amidst nature. Think of something that you can get lost in.
When you start to notice what is making you smile and feel more alive, you will start to take note of those special moments in your life. So, make sure that you follow the energy trail. Yes, it is that simple. When you invest your energy into something, it comes alive.
While you do this, make sure you let go of things that drain your energy. Let off the activities, thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, or people that do not serve your purpose. Notice activities and people, sucking the joy out of your life. It is time to bid them bye-bye.
It is the most difficult part of the process for many. This is because it is scary and brings up all types of features. However, it is important if you want to find your soul’s purpose. - Start Noticing Synchronicity
Another way to find your soul’s purpose is to start looking for recurring patterns in your life. When an event you saw in your dream happens in real life or when the perfect text falls off the bookshelf.
Synchronistic events tend to be clues from the universe that you are on the right path. Once you start to notice those events and begin acknowledging them, it is like your response to the universe.
The universe will then lead you. This is how the energy cycle works. - Take Accidents as a Sign of Wake Up Call
Accidents should be taken as a wake-up call. It might not be something that happened to you. Anything that shakes your routine life, like some serious illness or a small accident can be taken as a wakeup call.
As you listen to your soul’s whisper, it will try waking you up with a bang. Start paying attention to serious incidents or accidents; they might be trying to tell you something. - Jump into the Unknown
You have to come out of your comfort zone and step outside the box of security. As you trust and jump into the unknown and follow the path and follow where your soul leads you, you can achieve success and can thrive.
Receive more and more information on what your soul is ready to do. You don’t have to go searching but let it find you. Make sure that you open yourself up to all possibilities. If you are ready, your purpose is going to present itself to you. So, you should let go of your dire need to find it. Just tune in to your soul. - Ask Questions
Asking the right question and loads of questions is the mark of a spiritual seeker. As you feel fear gripping you, ask yourself, where it is really coming from. Try to find out the reason behind it.
When you notice a limiting belief or thought that comes up, ask yourself what might have really caused it. If you are feeling uncertain or jealous, try to go deeper and find out why you are feeling what you are feeling.
A majority of the uncertainties and doubts you have, come from the mind, and it is based on past life experiences. Hence, if you dig deeper and ask yourself questions like how, why, and where, you question your fear, guilt, and envy.
The Takeaway
Finding your soul purpose can be taken as an investigative journey. In case you are a spiritual seeker, you might already be on this path. It is necessary to be alert to all possibilities and self-ware. Asking the right question will get you to the place where you are meant to be.
In each life, you come to answer one question that every human being has, who am I? As you get closer to its answer, you get to learn many life lessons. Every time you reveal the answer to this question a little more, you take a step closer to your soul purpose. The journey is going to be an awakening and exciting experience.

What is Spirituality? You might have already heard about spirituality. But like many out there, you might not really be sure what it is. Spirituality is different from religion. You can practice it even if you are not a religious person. It is a broader concept with room for various perspectives. Spirituality, in general, is a sense of connection to something bigger than yourself and involves a search for meaning in life. Often, it is described as a sacred experience that makes one feel interconnected and alive. A few might find it to be intricately linked to their association with a temple, church, synagogue, or mosque. However, others might find comfort in a personal connection with a higher power. Spirituality is something that is discussed a lot but often misunderstood. People believing that religion and spirituality are the same things bring their prejudices and beliefs about religion into spiritual discussion. Albeit, every religion emphasizes spiritualism as being a part of faith, it is possible to be spiritual without being religious.
Difference Between Spirituality and Religion
There are some clear ways in which spirituality and religion differ. Religion is a specific set of organized practices and beliefs that is shared by a group or a community. Spirituality, on the other hand, is more of individual practice. It is associated with a sense of purpose or peace. It is basically related to the process of growing beliefs around the meaning of connection of life with others without any specific spiritual values. The best way to understand the relationship between religion and spirituality is to consider a game of football. The referees, the rules, other plays, and the markings on the field help in guiding you as you play the game. Similarly, religion guides you to find your spirituality. Kicking the ball without abiding by the rules and regulations or playing on the field, can be fun and give you fulfillment, while still expressing the essence of the game. It is just spirituality in life. You can be religious and spiritual. But being religious doesn’t make you spiritual or vice versa.
Spirituality and Emotional Health
How to Put Spirituality in Practice? Spirituality exists in all cultures and traditions. You can put it into practice in your daily life through everyday, ordinary activity. Here’s how you can cultivate spirituality and ways to grow your spiritual development.
● Meditate or Pray: You can improve your spiritual development with regular communication and prayer with high power. Spiritual development is a process that you can hone like other abilities. Meditating more, praying more, and attending gatherings of like-minded people are just a few ways to put your spirituality into practice.
● Live Healthier: You might not have ever thought healthy living is a spiritual practice or discipline but it is. As a multi-level being, you need to take proper care. In case you want to improve your spiritual development and spirituality, you also have to take care of your physical body and eat better. Drink less alcohol and stop smoking. So, you need to live a healthier life.
● Focus on Yourself: Yes, you need to focus on yourself but not the way you are thinking. It doesn’t mean getting your hair done or shopping for new clothes. You need to focus on your inner self, instead of your outer self. The Takeaway Being spiritual doesn’t mean adhering to strict religious beliefs to reap benefits. You can practice it in different ways and there isn’t any right or wrong. There are simple ways to include spirituality in your life to enjoy its benefits.

The world can be such a noisy place, even in quiet places. Because sometimes the disturbances are not even external, they come from within us. Our minds are always racing back and forth scattering our thoughts and emotions all over the place, this leaves us stressed and anxious. A lot of people forget to take time off to withdraw from all the mental and physical strain, relax and enjoy the moment, this is not fair to the body and mind. It’s not a surprise to find that when some of us think of meditation, we imagine it in the context of someone assuming the lotus position with their hands perfectly raised or rested on their bodies. A quick search on Google images for Meditation and all you’ll see are different people sitting calmly and meditating, but what if you could meditate without having to do all that especially if you don’t have the luxury of the perfect kit and environment? That’s where mindfulness comes in, it’s a form of meditation that goes with you anywhere.
Mindfulness isn’t some hard to reach state of being, it is basically a natural state of consciousness we were all born with that allows us to be fully alert to where we are and what we are doing without feeling overwhelmed. No matter how busy our bodies are or how far our minds have gone, mindfulness is always there, ready to draw us back. It is unfortunate that not many people give this helpful practice a thought, the potentials are limitless. The basic purpose of mindfulness is to help us focus intensively on the involuntary act of breathing and by extension, feel our immediate surroundings and current activity without the need for any immediate reaction that’ll distract us.
There are so many benefits of Mindfulness, once you start you’ll begin to feel the impact in all the aspects of your life. Practicing Mindfulness positively affects your general well-being and improves your physical and mental health. Now, you might be wondering how the simple act of living in the moment can yield so many benefits and if at all these discoveries are evidence based. Well, don’t be so surprised. Mindfulness improves your physical health through different ways. Even Scientists have discovered by research that practicing Mindfulness techniques can effectively relieve the body of stress, reduce blood pressure, alleviate chronic pain, improve sleeping habits and mitigate gastrointestinal complications. With mindfulness, you also become more inclined to be sensitive to the needs of your body.
As for your mental health, there are now evidence backed reports of mindfulness meditation being used as an important element in the treatment of a number of common psychological issues like depression, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and substance abuse. Mindfulness also benefits your general wellbeing in many ways that contribute to living a satisfied life. By increasing your awareness of the present, you become fully engaged in it and are able to take in all the pleasures as they come. Even when things don’t go as planned, mindfulness prepares you for accepting the unexpected and calmly moving on to better situations. If you are focusing on here and now, tell me how you can get worked up worrying about the future or dragged regretting what’s happened in the past. You’ll also find yourself connecting on a deeper level with others since you’re now aware of them more than ever before. There are just so many benefits than I can mention but once you begin to practice it, the change is obvious.
There are different ways to practice mindfulness. The amazing thing is that Mindfulness techniques can be integrated into various regular activities in our lives since the central idea is being more aware of the present. Since this is only a short guide intended to help you start your mindfulness journey, I will be mentioning a few mindfulness techniques that you can practice with great results.
Breathing: I’m starting with mindful breathing because it’s the most common form of mindfulness. You can do this while seated or standing and it only takes a few minutes. We breathe all the time, this makes breathing the first approach to mindfulness. There are different breathing exercises for mindfulness but the most common way is to simply breathe in and out while letting your mind focus on inhaling and exhaling. You can breathe in through your nose and out through the mouth. Breathing is involuntary, under normal circumstances we have no conscious control over how it works but paying attention to it and nothing else will help you keep off straying thoughts so you can clear your mind and be at peace with yourself.
Attentiveness: Being mindfully attentive means that you’re focusing on the things surrounding you that you would ordinarily not notice. You hear it time and time again that every moment counts and that the little things matter, but in the moments it takes you to meditate like this, you get to put these words to test. You’re to pay attention to something in your environment that you’d otherwise not notice while going about your busy life. It could be a couple of kids playing, it could be a trail of ants marching, it could be tree, the moon or a window. Just tie your attention to the object in this scene and focus intensely on it. While you’re focusing, do not allow any distraction. Appreciate the sight like you’re seeing it for the first time in your life, bear in mind how important that object is, how purposeful it is. Connect yourself with it on a level that’s different from anything you’ve experienced before. It only takes a few minutes but the impact will reverberate through your life especially if you make this a regular practice. Try this attentiveness with different objects over time.
Immersion: By mindfully immersing yourself in each activity, you become aware of just how important it is to be able to experience each moment. We spend so much of our time being consumed by whatever we’re doing that we forget that we can take some timeout to leisurely consume those moments too. So next time you’re doing the laundry, mowing the lawn, cooking dinner or splitting some timber, you might want to take a step back from focusing on finishing the task and moving on to the next so you can take it all in. The idea is to fully immerse yourself in the task and become familiar with it in ways beyond routine so that you can gain new experiences within it.
Appreciation: Gratitude is essential and there’smore to it than just words. It’s a feeling that we need to experience sometimes to gain a new perspective towards life. As a mindful exercise, pick a few things in your life that you usually overlook but are essential to your wellbeing. Could be a friendship, could be an item or even a part of your body. Take some time to think about these things and how they contribute to your welfare. Consider their more intricate details, and imagine how life would be without them. Don’t panic, just fill yourself with appreciation. By taking time to appreciate the people and things in our lives, we’re bound to cherish them more and consider even the seemingly insignificant possessions as victories on their own.
Listening: Listening mindfully allows us to separate our sense of hearing from how we feel so that we can become better listeners. Much of the information we acquire is by listening, so becoming better listeners will drastically improve our lives. There are different ways you could practice mindful listening. You could use a song, ambient sounds, a speech or an audiobook. It could even be a conversation with a friend. The gist of this is to listen attentively and separate our sense of hearing from any judgemental disposition. We’re listening neutrally while being presently aware thus opening our minds to new experiences through hearing
The commonest misconception is that it deals with banishing our thoughts. A lot of people believe they cannot afford to do this as they have no control over their thoughts. Well, the good news is that Mindfulness has no business with actively sending your thoughts off. Infact, it encourages us to let them pass through us freely without any inhibitions so that we can make more room for newer and calmer experiences. Another misconception concerning thought is that Mindfulness only emphasizes positive thoughts. This is wrong for the same reason as I mentioned initially. Mindfulness isn’t about thinking happy thoughts and alienating the bad ones, instead, it stresses the development of a different awareness of all our thoughts good and bad, one that precludes worrying or judgements. Once we’re able to move past these severe attachments to our thoughts, we begin to see life anew.
It’s also noteworthy to mention that Mindfulness does not make our worries disappear. Life will always throw some unfavourable situations at us every now and then and there’ll be nothing we can do to prevent them. Mindfulness isn’t a way of magically making our problems vanish, but with it we may learn to handle those worries better. The goal is to always move forward but not without taking some time to live in each moment.
